Piegaro
Historical knowledge:
Founded by the Romans with the name “Pegarium” about 535 b.C., this place wasdedicated to Diana and although troubled by Hannibale’s and Punic wars it had a considerable demographic increment. In the following centuries its destiny and its
history weren’t any different from the other Umbrian towns which saw succession of barbarian invasions and medieval fights.In the Middle ages it became famous for artistic glass-working.Today this working is limited to the flasks.
Was feud of the Montemarte from Montegabbione and successively of the Filippeschi from Orvieto (XIIIth century).
Passed to the States of the Church in the XVIth century.
