This commemoration is in honour of the patron saints of the town, San Florido, Sant'Amanzio and San Donnino, In 1550 the 'podestà', chief magistrate and governor, accompanied by priors, nobles and brotherhoods, went to the Cathedral carrying the wax necessary for 52 candles (one a week) for the tomb of San Florido. Today a historical procession with 200 participants recreates the entire event. On the same day, in Piazza Gabriotti, the 'Torneo della Balestra manesca' (Tournament of the Rough Crossbow) is held. This is an ancient medieval tournament between men from the districts of the town, shouldering crossbows and wearing medieval costume.
